CALLING ALL CRAVEN COUNTY REPUBLICANS - MAKE PLANS TO ATTEND THE CONVENTION IN MARCH!!!
What is the Craven County Republican Convention?
Each year in March, the Craven County Republican Party holds its County Convention, where delegates from across our 21 precincts gather to shape the future of our party at the county level and help set the path toward district, state, and national conventions. Our total delegate allotment, based on our number of registered Republicans, will exceed 320 this year, offering a tremendous opportunity for grassroots engagement.
Why is the Convention Important?
The convention is more than a meeting...it is a pivotal moment for mutual empowerment and political momentum:
-
It brings together registered Republicans from all precincts to deliberate, vote, and unify around the next year’s agenda.
-
Those assembled will help elect delegates to higher-level conventions and play a direct role in influencing party leadership, policy themes, and strategy. For example, statewide party rules describe how county conventions elect delegates and alternates to the state convention under the party’s Plan of Organization.
-
It is an energizing springboard: by participating, you help set the tone, strengthen our base, and ensure that Republican voices from Craven County are fully heard and maximized at every level.
-
Historically, we’ve never filled all available delegate slots. This year, we aim to max out that 320+ number. Your participation matters, both individually and collectively, to projecting strength, preparing for elections, and maintaining momentum for good government.
How Can You Become a Delegate?
It’s simple. Follow these three steps:
-
Be a registered Republican. If you are not already registered as a Republican, change your party affiliation today and come as a guest. You missed the deadline to be a delegate, but you can come see what it is all about and become a delegate next year!
-
Attend your precinct meeting in February. Each of our 21 precincts will hold its annual meeting, where delegates to the county convention are elected. Dates and times for those meetings are published under the 'Precinct Meeting Tab' on this webpage.
-
Pay the $10 delegate fee at your February Precinct meeting. This fee is required of all delegates and helps cover the cost of holding the convention. Bring $10 cash with you to your February Precinct meeting.
- Be elected by your precinct to represent them as a delegate at the Convention. Each precinct is allotted a number of delegates based on the number of registered Republicans in that precinct. If more people want to become delegates in your precinct than delegate seats available, then there is an election. Even if you don't want to be a delegate, attending your precinct meeting is still important. Many things are voted on at the precinct level that help shape the direction of the party.
Why You Should Engage Now
Your involvement is crucial for several reasons:
-
A strong turnout shows our party is active, organized, and ready, not just locally, but regionally and statewide.
-
With over 320 possible delegate slots available in Craven County, many going unused in past years, you have an opportunity to step forward and represent your precinct and your county in a meaningful way to strengthen the Republican party.
-
Good government begins with citizen-leaders showing up. By becoming a delegate, you are doing your part to shape the Republican agenda and ensure that our values are carried forward at the municipal, county, state, and national levels.
We look forward to seeing you in February!
