September 2026 Precinct Meeting Agenda

Template for Precincts to use

1. Welcome and Opening

2. Precinct Chairman’s Opening Message: “We the People”

Five reasons precinct participation is imperative:

1.     Be an informed voter. Precinct involvement helps citizens understand the candidates, issues, offices on the ballot, and decisions facing the community.

2.     Meet and get to know your representatives. Precinct meetings provide opportunities to meet elected officials and candidates, ask questions, express concerns, and build relationships.

3.     Help protect election integrity. Informed citizens can serve as poll observers, election officials, electioneers, and participants who understand how elections are conducted.

4.     Be part of the team that gets good candidates elected. Campaigns need volunteers to contact voters, distribute information, work the polls, encourage turnout, and reach neighbors.

5.     Help “keep our republic”. A republic depends on citizens who vote, serve, stay informed, hold leaders accountable, and participate in public life.

3. 2026 General Election Discussion

A. Republican Candidates

·       Review the Candidate Palm Card.

·       Answer questions about Republican candidates and offices on the ballot.

B. Proposed Constitutional Amendments

1. Require Photo ID for All Voting

Extends the constitutional photo ID requirement to all methods of voting, including absentee voting.

2. Maximum State Income Tax Rate of 3.5%

Places a 3.5% ceiling in the N.C. Constitution on the state income tax rate. A higher rate would require another constitutional change approved by voters.

3. Property Tax Levy Limit

Requires the General Assembly to establish limits on how much local governments can increase property taxes. The amendment itself does not establish a specific percentage cap.

·       Early Voting: October 15–31, 2026

·       Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026, 6:30 AM–7:30 PM

·       Election Day voting takes place at your assigned precinct.

·       Thursday, October 15–Friday, October 16: 8:00 AM–7:30 PM

·       Saturday, October 17–Sunday, October 18: CLOSED

·       Monday, October 19–Friday, October 23: 8:00 AM–7:30 PM

·       Saturday, October 24: 8:00 AM–3:00 PM

·       Sunday, October 25: CLOSED

·       Monday, October 26–Friday, October 30: 8:00 AM–7:30 PM

·       Saturday, October 31: 8:00 AM–3:00 PM

5. Volunteer Opportunities and Election Operations

Precinct leaders should review volunteer needs and encourage members to sign up as soon as possible.

Online training is available on multiple dates. To RSVP, click the date that works best. After registering, the meeting link will be emailed directly to the registrant.

7. Staying Engaged Throughout the Year

·       Attend precinct meetings, especially in February and September.

·       Attend the annual Craven County Convention in March.

·       Attend the Reagan Day Dinner in March.

·       Attend the District 1 Convention in April.

·       Attend the North Carolina GOP Convention in June.

·       Attend BBQ & Bluegrass in October.

·       Join the Century Club and attend the Century Club Dinner in November.

·       Follow the Craven County Republican Party Facebook page and check craven.nc.gop regularly for special events.
